Our story began in Portland, Oregon in 1927 when George Morlan went to work as a plumber with a Ford Model T truck and one helper. Despite the Great Depression, his business grew and he opened his first plumbing store on SE Foster Road in 1935.
About the same time, electric water heaters were being introduced in home and soon George Morlan was selling and installing more water heaters than anyone in Portland, which dubbed him the title “The Water Heater King!”®
The business grew with the addition of kitchen appliances, and even television sin the 1940’s and 50’s, but by the time George passed the business to his son, Gary and daughter-in-law, Leone, the company was again concentrating strictly on plumbing.
In the late 1980’s Leon’s son, Rick Kramien, took over the daily management of the business, expanding operations with store in Tigard, Salem, Beaverton, Warrenton, Lincoln City, Bend an Northwest Portland, Oregon.
Today, the eight George Morlan Plumbing locations serve Oregon and SW Washington with the largest selection of plumbing fixtures, parts and supplies in the Pacific Northwest. The company employs over 200 people and is nationally-recognized as the leading plumbing retailer in the nation.
